European technologies in security and space
Commissioner Andrius Kubilius' visit to CloudFerro highlights the importance of European technologies for Europe's security and operational readiness
Who we are
CloudFerro is a European cloud provider specialising in infrastructure for data-intensive and demanding workloads. We build and operate public, private and hybrid clouds for organisations that need control over their data, scalable computing resources and infrastructure designed for long-term operation.
Our mission
We build and operate cloud infrastructure that gives organisations control over where their data is stored, how their environments are deployed and which technologies they depend on.
By combining European infrastructure, open-source technologies and our own engineering expertise, we help organisations run demanding workloads without becoming locked into closed cloud ecosystems.
Our role goes beyond providing capacity. We work with customers to design, deploy and operate cloud environments that fit their technical, security and regulatory requirements.

Our Vision
We believe organisations should be able to choose where their data and workloads run without giving up control over their technology.
Our ambition is to strengthen Europe’s cloud capabilities by building scalable, open and trusted infrastructure for organisations working with large volumes of data, advanced computing and critical systems.
We build cloud infrastructure that helps organisations retain control over their data, maintain integration flexibility and reduce dependency on closed technology ecosystems.
See how our cloud infrastructure supports large-scale data platforms and demanding workloads across European programmes and organisations.
Core Values
Our values guide the technology we choose, the way we work with customers and the responsibility we take for the infrastructure we operate.
Our story
CloudFerro was founded to meet the need to store and process rapidly growing volumes of Earth observation data. Today, it supports key European satellite programmes, climate research and scientific progress, providing sovereign cloud and AI solutions that strengthen the technological independence of Poland and Europe.
A team of over 300 experts and continued development of a sovereign cloud under European control. Launch of a new cloud region in Łódź for large datasets and demanding AI workloads. Expansion of Sherlock with agents using organisations’ own documents.
Launch of NSIS Cloud for the Polish Space Agency — a platform combining satellite data with a processing environment for public administration and research. CloudFerro became the ground segment operator for the national CAMILA constellation, responsible for data reception, processing and distribution.
Launch of Sherlock — a platform providing advanced AI models on CloudFerro infrastructure. Collaboration with ESA Φ-lab delivered the first global Earth observation embedding dataset: representations of satellite data that facilitate AI-based analysis.
Development of the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE) for ESA as the main access point for Copernicus data. Delivery of the Destination Earth Data Lake (DEDL) for EUMETSAT — data storage and processing infrastructure for Europe’s initiative to build digital twins of Earth.
Cooperation with DLR expanded to include EO-Lab — a platform for researchers and application developers using Earth observation data. Combining satellite data access with scalable computing power, GPUs and AI tools supported new ways to analyse our planet.
Developing platforms for European institutions strengthened CloudFerro’s position as a cloud provider for satellite and climate data. A new version of CODE-DE was built for DLR and continues to support German public administration in using satellite data.
Delivery of a hybrid cloud for the Copernicus Climate Data Store, commissioned by ECMWF. Launch of CREODIAS for ESA and WEkEO for EUMETSAT — platforms combining satellite and environmental data repositories with computing power for processing directly in the cloud.
CloudFerro began operations in 2015, developing cloud services for Earth observation. Delivery of the EO Cloud project laid the foundations for expertise in storing and processing large satellite datasets, reducing barriers to their use.
Europe’s space and research institutions don’t choose a cloud provider on promises. These are the facts behind ours.
One of the largest companies in Poland’s space sector and one of Europe’s leading players in the space downstream segment — platforms and services built on satellite data.
The only Polish space-sector company with prime contractor status for the European Space Agency (ESA), ECMWF, EUMETSAT and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
Cooperation with over 40 scientific institutions across Europe. A member of the European Open Science Cloud, providing cloud resources for science funding programmes, including OCRE.
A member of EARSC, the Association of Space Sector Employers (ZPSK), the Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) and the Copernicus Relays network. An active open-source contributor as a member of the Linux Foundation, Ceph Foundation and OpenInfra Foundation.
Our experience comes from delivering and operating cloud platforms for organisations working with large data volumes, demanding processing requirements and long-term operational needs.
Across Earth Observation, climate, research and public-sector programmes, our projects have helped shape the way CloudFerro builds and runs cloud today.

A cloud computing environment with an integrated multi-petabyte repository of Earth observation satellite data. It is the first commercial element of Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem.

One of the biggest repositories of open and free Earth observation data immediately available for downloading, streamlining and on-demand processing.

A cloud based massive repository of data that provides the foundation for Destination Earth – a European Union’s flagship initiative to develop a highly accurate digital model of Earth, contributing to the European digital and green transformation.

The German platform providing Earth observation data, enabling the processing of data obtained under the European Copernicus program, developed and operated by CloudFerro.

The DIAS hybrid cloud computing, built and operated by CloudFerro on behalf of the consortium, led by EUMETSAT, providing access to satellite data, in particular for monitoring the marine, terrestrial, atmosphere and climate environment.

Our partners
We work with technology providers, scientific institutions and specialised service companies to extend the capabilities of our cloud and support customers in demanding projects.
Our partner ecosystem helps us combine cloud infrastructure with domain expertise, data, software and specialised services where projects require more than infrastructure alone.
We also work closely with research institutions and scientific communities, supporting access to cloud resources, data and computing environments for research projects across Europe.
The foundation of CloudFerro is an experienced management team that has been successfully operating in the IT and Telecommunications for over 20 years.
